Artist – Painter of Byzantine Icons

The painter of Byzantine Icons (Iconographer) Alexandra Kaouki, was born in Le Mans – France in 1973.

At the age of 20 years and after she settled with her family in Athens, she began her first steps in the holy art of painting sacred pictures of icons. This turn in the World of painting sacred pictures was the spark which overturned her existence and professional orientation.
The simplicity, the expression of the figures and the brightness of the colors, constitute her painting style.

Self- taught, adorer of the Cretan School, she continued as an apprentice beside consecrated painters from 1997 until 2000, in Athens.

Since 2006, she lives in Crete, in Rethymno, where she made her first professional steps. In 2007, she opens her first art studio in Atsipopoulo – Rethymno and from 2013 in the Old town of Rethymno in the vicinity of the Venetian Fortress, Melissinou 22, where she creates and exhibit her work today.

She took part in the Pan Cretan Exhibition of Rethymno on 2006, 2007, 2008 and also in the 1rst, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th exhibition of Hagiography (Iconography) of the Holy Metropolitan Church of Rethymno and Avlopotamou, on 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017 and finally at the exhibition ‘Light, Art Eternal’ at the Zappeion Palace Athens in 2014.
